Elva (Brooks) Hawkins

Elva Brooks Hawkins, age 75, of 173 Jerrys Way, Sparta, NC; passed away Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 at her residence.

Elva was born September 3rd, 1949 in Alleghany County, NC to the late William Conley and Edna Caudill Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jerry Hawkins; two sisters: Mary Lane, Bertha Carrick; two brothers: Garland Brooks, John Brooks.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Kennedy and wife Lori of Independence, VA; a daughter, Joy Maines and fiance Frank Phipps of Sparta; four grandchildren: Hayden Maines, Alyssia Maines, Ryan Kennedy, Kacey Combs; two great-grandchildren: Kolton Combs, Kashtyn Grimes; two brothers: Donley Brooks and wife Barbara of Laurel Springs, Ernest Brooks and wife Judy of Sparta; three sisters: Nancy Caudill of Sparta, Juanita Sidden of Sparta, Marie Long of Sparta; two sisters-in-law: Lucy Brooks of Glade Valley, Opal Alley and husband Bobby of Summerfield, NC; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Elva will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 1st, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Elder James Smith and Pastors Derek Cowan and David Trent officiating. Interment will follow in Landmark Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
