Ellen Loraine (Shumate) Jarrett

Ellen Loraine Jarrett, age 85, of Sparta, NC; passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 in Sparta. She was born, February 3, 1934 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Bert and Laura Andrews Shumate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death a brother, Hersey Shumate.

She is survived by a daughter, Leah Jarrett of the home; a son, William "Bill" Jarrett and wife Emma of Fort Chiswell, VA; three grandchildren: Ashley Reeves and husband Brandon of Ennice, Elena Gonzalez and Fiance` John Bennett of Ennice, Christopher Gonzalez of the home; a great-grandson, Ethan Reeves; a niece and several cousins also survive.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
