Ella Blackburn Obituary

Ella Louise Surber Blackburn, age 82, of Independence, VA and formerly of Rugby; passed away Wednesday, September 15th, 2021 at Grayson Rehab and Healthcare Center in Independence, VA.

She was born March 25, 1939 in Washington County, VA to the late Virgil and Blanche Gilley Surber. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Blackburn; two brothers: Cecil and John Surber; a stepson, Andy Blackburn; a stepdaughter, Geneva McMeans.

Survivors include two sons: Kenny Blackburn of Rugby, and Tim Blackburn of Galax; five stepchildren: Randy Blackburn of Rugby, Jerry Blackburn and wife Wanda of Rugby, Woody Blackburn of Crumpler, Harold Blackburn and wife Helen of Rugby, Lisa Williams and husband Elwood of Burlington; a brother Hank Surber of Delaware; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family also survive.

No formal services will be held.
