Edna Hines Jones, age 93 of Laurel Springs, NC; passed away Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at her residence.
Edna was born August 9th, 1931 in Alleghany County to the late Willie Forrester and Lela Irwin Hines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Jones; a sister, Reba Walker; three brothers: Ralph, Rex, and William "Buddy" Hines.
Edna was an avid reader and served on the Alleghany Public Library Board for many years. Anything that she loved, she loved abundantly. Besides being an avid reader, she had quite a green thumb. She was kind and generous, with a great sense of humor. She shared a great love and life with her husband, Walter, and loved her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known to her family as "Mamaw."
Survivors include three daughters: Diane Church and husband Jimmy of Laurel Springs, Janet Simpson and husband Daryl of Laurel Springs, Mary Teague and husband Brantley of Piney Creek; a son, Daniel Jones of Burlington, NC; seven grandchildren: John Blankenship and wife Katie of Laurel Springs, Maggie Murphy of Ocracoke Island, Jessie Smith and husband Tyler of Laurel Springs; Mandy Moody and husband Jason of Oak Ridge, Morgan Edwards and husband Bobby of Sparta, Daniel Teague of Piney Creek, Meredith Teague of Piney Creek; seven great-grandchildren: Jack, Aubrey, Nellie, Easton, Cooper, Kennedy and Hudson; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
Graveside Services to honor the life of Edna will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Ed Hall officiating. No formal visitation will be held.
