Eddie W. Motley, age 79 of Lorida, Florida and formerly of Alleghany County, passed on Friday, August 26th, 2022 at the hospice house.
Eddie was born December 31st, 1942 in Concord, NC to the late Jack & Ruby Motley. He was the founder and former owner of Motley’s BBQ in Laurel Springs. He spent many years volunteering for the church missionary group, Brethren Disaster Ministries before retiring to Lorida.
He was a beloved husband, father, papaw and friend. We have peace in the fact he is with the Lord and rejoicing in heaven.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Motley of the home; two step-sons: Mark Parsons and wife Ashley Parsons & Jeff Parsons; a step-daughter, Stephanie Newman and husband Tim Newman; Ashley, Brooke, Rebecca, Kate and additional grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services to honor the life of Eddie will be held in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Ed Hall officiating, at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 1st. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Covenant Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Stephanie Newman at 4945 NC Hwy 113, Laurel Springs, NC 28644.
