Dorothy Jean (Frank) Walters

Dorothy Jean Frank Hahn Walters, age 87, of Sparta; passed away Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta, NC.

Dorothy was the only daughter of Harry Schoen Frank and Lillias Brown Frank, born December 2nd, 1935 in Scranton, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy A. Walters.

Dorothy was the first generation American in her family. She married Theodore J. Hahn in 1958. She began her educational degrees with a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA and taught 1st grade in the Clark Summit, PA school system. After being a homemaker for several years, she later decided to go back to school and obtained a K-12 Library Certification from Kutztown State College in Kutztown, PA, followed by her masters degree in library science from Villanova University in Delaware, PA. She worked until her retirement in 1997 after 25 years in the Norristown, PA school system. She enjoyed her many trips abroad, especially to her ancestral homeland in England.

Survivors include her four children: Richard F. Hahn and partner, Deb of Fairport, NY, David J. Hahn and wife Karen of Charlotte, NC, Susan E. Beeler and husband Mark of Moneta, VA, Carolyn A. Shoaf and husband Brent of Advance, NC; six grandchildren: Emily, Evan, and Jason Hahn, Sam and Max Beeler, and Katie Shoaf.

Dottie's life was full with loving friends and extended family from both of her marriages.

No formal services are to be held locally.
