Reverend Donald “Buck” Shaw
He was born December 14th, 1935 to Tom and Clyde Shaw in Glade Valley, North Carolina. He was a very talented man and worked at several jobs in and out of the county. He was a security guard at Roaring Gap Club for four years, then went to work in the machine shop at Chatham Manufacturing in Elkin for eight years. His last job was working in maintenance for Sparta Pipes for 27 years. After this he retired to work at home and enjoy his grandchildren. He held the position of pastor and assistant pastor at several churches in the area.
In May 1957, he married Viola Brooks. They had 2 sons Donald Kevin Shaw and Philip Nelson Shaw. Kevin preceded him in death in 1976. Also preceding him in death were three brothers John Thomas, James, and Reverend Everette Shaw and one sister Nellie Ketterling and both of his parents.
He is survived by his wife Viola, son Philip and his wife Marlene, one grand-daughter Marla and her husband TJ Coleman, Three great grand-children Malachi, Colten, and Lila Grace, his brothers Bill, Russell, and Marvin, and his sisters Martha, Mabel, and Nancy.
At his request, he is to be cremated and his ashes placed beside his late son Kevin.
The family will receive guests at the home of Donald and Viola in the days to come.
A private family service at the gravesite will be scheduled in the days to come.
