Donald Gale Shumate

Donald G. Shumate, age 71, of Fries, VA; passed away Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 in Independence, VA.

Donald was born March 21st, 1949 in Welch, WV to the late Tracy Shumate and Ann Perkins Shumate Hendrix. In addition to his biological father and mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Clarence "C. J." Hendrix.

Survivors include his companion, Barbara Ezell of Independence, VA; two daughters: Jennifer S. Hollingsworth and husband Tim of Mouth of Wilson, VA., Sandy S. Busic and husband Brian of Independence, VA; three grandchildren: Easton Hollingsworth, Emily and Katelynn Busic; three step-grandchildren: Kelsie and Jake Hollingsworth, Ben Busic.

Graveside Services to honor the life of Donald will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, December 18th, 2020 at Sparta Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post# 7034 of Sparta. The family will not be having a formal visitation.

Due to Covid-19 considerations, we ask that everyone attending the services to please bring and wear a mask.
