Donald Clayton Sheets

Donald "Donnie" Clayton Sheets, age 71, of 8949 NC Hwy 113, Piney Creek, NC; passed away Friday, May 26th, 2023.

Donnie was born December 16th, 1951 in Ashe County, NC to Georgia Shepherd Sheets and the late Clayton Talmadge Sheets. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Wyatt Sheets; a sister, Jaquitha Sheets. Donnie was a Veteran serving his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Covenant Brethren Church in Scottville. He enjoyed working with O'Reilly Auto Parts in Sparta after his retirement in Automobile Lift Equipment Sales.

Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Jo Ann Sheets of the home; his mother, Georgia Shepherd Sheets of Scottville; two children: Darrick Sheets of Greensboro, Donna Sheets Johnson and husband Allen of Clemmons; two step-children: Jeffrey Anders and wife Wilma of Sparta, Rhonda Anders of Ennice; three grandchildren: Porter Johnson of Clemmons, Andrew Sheets and wife Allie of Myrtle Beach, Brandon Sheets and wife Becca of Winston-Salem; step-grandchildren: Hailee Anders of Elkin, Shane Anders of Ennice, Andriea Villarruel of West Jefferson, Gabby Villarruel of Ennice, Isabella Villarruel of Ennice; three great-grandchildren: Avaleah Sheets, Lillian Sheets, and Braiden Sheets; step great-grandchildren: Mallie Anders, Kayson Miller, Nash Anders, McCoy Anders and Liam Ramirez; extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Donnie will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Dale Baugus officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Covenant Brethren Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post# 7034 of Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
