Daniel Buckle, Jr., age 92, died January 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Cecelia. He is survived by wife, Frances; children David Buckle of Sparta, NC, Daniel Buckle III and wife Roxolana of Matthews, NC, Suzanne Buckle and partner Travis Holbrook of Glade Valley, NC, and Karen Spires and husband Steve of Mount Peasant, SC; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Suzy Sylvester, niece Barbara Sydow and nephew John Sydow.
Dan served 31years in the United States Marine Corps in the specialty of Military Police, as a criminal investigator, instructor, and Provost Marshal. His tours of duty took him to several posts throughout the U.S, as well as Guam, South America, China, Okinawa and Vietnam twice before his discharge in 1984.
He was a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
After retirement he was employed as Head of Safety/Security for biotech company, Intermedics, in Texas before returning to Alleghany County in 1996. He was a founding member of the Walter F. Osborne Marine Corp League.
Now his spirit goes to be with his fellow marines at the pearly gates. Semper fi.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 1:00, Saturday, January 14th, 2023. Interment will be immediately following at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery in Roaring Gap.
