Charles Edwin DeBord, age 80, of Lake Mary, Florida passed away at Advent Health Hospital Altamonte on October 16th, 2020 of complications from Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on August 4, 1940 in Alleghany County, North Carolina. He met his high school sweetheart Louise Church and they married in 1960. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Charles had a 36 year career at Lowe’s Home Improvement, retiring as Florida District Manager. He was a passionate NASCAR fan and life-long member of the Baptist church. He was a devoted husband and provider, always caring for the concerns of his family. Charles faced his 25 year battle with Parkinson’s with dignity, never letting the disease discourage his spirit.
Charles is survived by his wife Louise; son Daryl DeBord and wife Lisa of Haymarket, VA; daughter Denise Carlson and husband Scott of Longwood, FL; sister Phyllis Fender and husband J.R. of Sparta, NC; brother Ronald and wife Edith of Ennice, NC; sister Marcia Meeks, who preceded him in death; and grandchildren Sierra DeBord, Alexander Carlson, Lauren Carlson, and Brooke Carlson.
Services will be held at a later date in Sparta, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity his granddaughter Lauren started in his honor, with all donations going to the Michael J.
