In 1965, the Peaceful Valley Quartet was formed and for almost 30 years the quartet traveled throughout the Southeast singing gospel music deriving their inspirational and unique style from the Chuck Wagon Gang, of whom they deeply admired. They made many friends along the way and continued these friendships throughout the years. Along with singing, Carol enjoyed painting, working puzzles with Geraldine Vaughn, and reading. She was a patron of the Alleghany County Public Library for many years.
