Cara Dee (Anderson) Higginbotham

Cara Dee Anderson Higginbotham, age 64 of Glade Valley, NC; passed away Thursday, May 14th, 2026 at her residence.

Cara was born September 19th, 1961 in Jacksonville, FL to the late George and Shelby Teague Anderson. Cara loved spending time on the water and boating. She was a pilot boat captain, a third-degree black belt, and an avid gardener. At 42, Cara and Scott left their corporate careers behind to pursue a life of sailing around the world.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Scott Higginbotham of the home; a step daughter, Tonya Hoffman and husband Trevor of Boca Raton, FL; a sister in law, Danielle Higginbotham of Washington, D.C.; special friends: Mike Mattina, Jimmy Green, Shirley Richardson and countless others.

A memorial service to honor the life of Cara will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 22nd, 2026 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
