James Bronard "Barney" Miller, age 77, of Laurel Springs; passed away Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at his residence.
Bronard was a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Glendale Springs. He loved to play summer softball and was a pitcher for many years in Alleghany County. He loved his vegetable and flower gardens and especially his cattle farming.
Bronard was born September 9th, 1945 in Ashe County to the late Wiley Gord and Verna Bell Wingler Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Alice Timphia Miller; four brothers: Arvil, Russell, Herman and Leonard Miller; five sisters: Reecie Roten, Hazel Patterson, Gladys Barnes, Nellie Dixon, and Myrtle Stanley.
Survivors include two daughters: Sheila Lyall and husband Ricky of Laurel Springs, Lisa Tucker and husband Stuart of Laurel Springs; two grandsons: Ethan Tucker and wife Amber of Laurel Springs, Evan Tucker and wife Megan of Ennice; a granddaughter, Kelsey Lyall of Laurel Springs; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Miller and wife Betty of Glendale Springs; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
A private graveside service to honor the life of Bronard will be held on Wednesday, June 28th 2023 at Mabe Family Cemetery in Laurel Springs with Reverend Russell Sheets officiating. No formal visitation will be held.
The family would like to thank Tina Brown and the staff of Medi-Home Hospice of Alleghany for their loving care of Bronard.
