Bobby Shepherd Obituary
Robert "Bobby" Lewis Shepherd, Sr., of Sparta; passed away Monday, March 2nd, 2026 at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta, NC.
Bobby was born September 3rd, 1940 in Highland Park, KY to the late Eddie Lee and Rea Ann Warren Shepherd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Margaret, Geneva, Gladys, and Mary; two brothers: Charles and Eddie Lee, Jr.
Bobby loved to tinker around the house on various projects. He also volunteered at Alleghany Cares for over 14 years and enjoyed his time there.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Zelma Shepherd of the home; five children: Carolynn Ellis of Pinellas of Park, FL, Marilynn Shepherd of Sparta, Dorothy Kimball of Hudson, FL, Robert Lewis Shepherd II and wife Celeste of St. Petersburg, FL, Tyler W. Shepherd and wife Joanna of Clearwater, FL; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two brothers: Roscoe Shepherd of Hurricane Hills, KY, James McClure of Shepherdsville, KY; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Bobby will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at Sparta Cemetery with Reverend Matt Harris officiating. A private family gathering will be held at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Sparta for the children's daycare, PO Box 668, Sparta, NC 28675.
