Bobby Allen Atwood

Bobby "Bob" Allen Atwood, age 81, of 272 Ballpark Road, Sparta, NC; passed away Saturday, May 28th, 2022 at his residence.

Bob was born December 22nd, 1940 in Alleghany County to the late William Martin and Lillie Petty Atwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Loraine Nichols and Kathleen Miller; a brother, Alton Atwood. He was a US Army Veteran, retired from BlueRidge Energy, enjoyed playing golf, and spending time with his family. He attended Sparta Church of God.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Karen Banks Atwood of the home; two sons: Forrest Atwood and wife Amy of Atkins, VA, Faron Atwood and wife Dawn of Sparta; six grandchildren: Brandon Atwood and wife Tasha of Sparta, Ethan Atwood and wife Zoë of Alaska, Laurel Atwood of Lynchburg, VA, Lacey Atwood of Blounts Creek, NC, Lakyn Atwood of Greensboro, Austin Easter and wife Carly of Charlotte; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Chapel of Ennice, Darlene Brooks and husband Dwayne of Asheville; three brothers: Don Atwood and wife Glenna of Glade Valley, Gary Atwood and wife Cindy of Sparta, Ronnie Atwood and wife Barbara of Piney Creek; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Graveside services to honor the life of Bob will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, May 30th, 2022 at Antioch Cemetery in the Stratford Community of Sparta with Pastor Doug Combs officiating. No formal visiting hours will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
