Blaina Irene (McMeans) Nunley

Blaina Irene McMeans Nunley, age 83, of Kannapolis, NC and formerly of Sparta, NC; passed away Tuesday, May 13th, 2025 at her residence.

Blaina was born May 3rd, 1942 in Skygusty, WV to the late Blaine and Treva Sparks McMeans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Allen Nunley; a daughter, Theresa McMillan; two sisters: Mary McMeans, Bina Ball; a brother, Stewart McMeans. Blaina was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Living By Faith Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Alleghany Quilters Guild where she was a past President.

Survivors include two grandchildren: Brandon McMillan and wife Milly of Shelby, NC, Lauren Dendy and husband Brent of Kannapolis, NC; a great-grandson, Noah Dendy; three great-granddaughters: Ellison Dendy, Madelyn McMillan, Maris McMillan; a special son-in-law, J R McMillan and wife Tina of China Grove, NC; a sister, Claudette Bell and husband Roy of Sparta; a brother, Johnny McMeans and wife Pam of Estill Springs, TN; a sister-in law, Barbara McMeans of Jonesville, NC; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Blaina will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service with Pastor Derek Cowan officiating. Interment will follow in Piney Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
