Beatrice "Bea" Young

Darlee Beatrice "Bea" Young, age 85 of Independence, Virginia; passed away Monday, July 14th, 2025 at Grayson Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Independence, Va.

Beatrice was born January 27th, 1940 in Galax, VA to the late Willie Tucker and Kaula Ella Geneva Taylor Bush. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her foster parents Randolph and Virginia Hampton; an infant son, Woodrow McCarthy Tucker. Beatrice loved cooking, socializing, and spending time with her family. 

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Choate and husband Russell of Sparta, NC; three grandchildren: Russell Choate Jr. and wife Christine of Sparta, NC, Cynthia Rochelle "Shelley" Choate of Eden, NC, Timothy Ryan Choate of Indiana; five great grandchildren: Summer Taylor and husband Zachary, Dahntay Choate, Olivia Choate, Madison Choate, Aubree Choate; two great great grandchildren Elenor Choate and Madelynn Grace Choate; a foster sister, Donna Hampton Slaughter of Draper, Va; a foster brother William Randolph Hampton Jr. of Draper, Va; a brother, Thomas Tucker of Galax, Va; two sisters: Elaine Bush of Los Angeles, California and Shirley Maxwell; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive; the family would like to extend a special thanks to Lisa Saunders Brown and the Saunders Family, and to the staff at Grayson Rehab and Health. 

A memorial service to honor the life of Beatrice will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 26, 2025 at New Covenant Church with Pastor Donna Hampton and Pastor Ladell Slaughter officiating. Internment will follow at New Covenant Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a short time prior to the service and again following the service.
