Autry Gray (Sexton) Higgins

Autry Sexton Higgins, age 92 of Sparta, NC; passed away Thursday, September 25th, 2025 at her residence.

Autry was born September 30th, 1932 in Alleghany County, NC to the late Lennie Thomas Sexton and Edna Sturgill Sexton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Page Higgins; three brothers: Floyd Sexton, Billy Sexton and infant Norman Sexton; a sister, Jean Reeves; a infant grandson, David Wayne Lyons; a infant great-grandson, Hayden Cox.

Autry was a member of New Haven Covenant Brethren Church in Sparta. She loved nature and spending time outside.

Survivors include two daughters: Susan Lyons and husband Ricky of Yadkinville, Sarah Higgins and fiance David Pearson of Independence, Va; four grandchildren: Kelly Howard and husband Graham of Winston-Salem, Christopher Lyons (Jess Wright) of Mocksville, Brandi Hamm (Adam Ring) of Sparta, Casey Norman and husband Kevin of Ennice; four great-grandchildren: Autry and Brie Cox of Ennice, Wesley and Madelyn Howard of Winston-Salem; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Graveside services to honor the life of Autry will be held 4:00 pm Sunday, September 28th, 2025 at New Haven Covenant Brethren Church Cemetery with Reverend Bobby Reed officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
