Anna Clarice (Adams) Sexton

Anna Adams Sexton, age 97 of Sparta; passed away Monday, April 3rd, 2023 at her home. Anna was born July 3rd, 1925 in Konnarock, VA to the late Kenny and Fannie Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Sexton, her daughter, Anja Murdock, four brothers, and two sisters.

Anna loved her New Haven community and especially her church, New Haven Covenant Brethren Church, where she was a very active member. She loved to quilt and was a member of the New Haven Quilters for many years.

She is survived by her son, Larry and wife Judy of Asheville, NC; grandson, Ryan and wife Kris of Matthews, NC; two great-grandchildren: Abby and Connor. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to express love and gratitude to Cornelia and Paul Reeves for adopting Anna into their family and a special thanks to Jack and Stan Sexton, Georgia Johnson, Betty Guynn, John and Janet Pokorney. Also, they would like to mention their appreciation of Medi-Home Health and Hospice, especially Brittany Bare and Terry Blevins.

Funeral services to honor the life of Anna will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at New Haven Covenant Church of the Brethren with Reverend Bobby Reed officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Haven Covenant Church Cemetery Fund c/o Stan Sexton 353 New Haven Road, Sparta, NC 28675.
