Anita Jean (Greene) Kennedy

Anita Jean Greene Kennedy, age 62 of Sparta; passed away Monday, July 28th, 2025 at her residence.

Anita was born October 15th, 1962 in Alleghany County to Ina Blevins Greene and the late Arnold Gene Greene. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stephen "Steve" Kennedy. She was the former owner/operator of Twin Oaks General Store and the Pro Stop.

Survivors include her mother: Ina Greene of Independence, VA; two daughters: Tracy Joines and husband Linn of Sparta, Jessica Scott and husband T.J. of Sparta; a step-son, Barry Kennedy of Sparta; six grandchildren: Jerimiah Billings and wife Autumn of Sparta, Trinity Billings and fiance John Prest of Sparta, Kinzie Scott of Sparta, Kindell Scott of Sparta, Kayla Halsey of Sparta, Travis Joines and wife Ashley of Glade Creek; three great grandchildren: Evan Halsey, Emma Halsey and Harlan Joines; a sister, Susan Eastridge and fiance Mackie Bedsaul of Galax, VA; a brother, Arnold Greene and wife Dreama of Fries, VA; a niece, Tara Jolly and husband Rob of Mooresville; a nephew, Ethan Greene of Fries, VA; a sister-in-law, Joan Kennedy of Sparta; extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Anita will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 31st, 2025 in the chapel of Thomas Family Funeral Service. A private interment for family only will follow at Kennedy Cemetery in the Turkey Knob Community of Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
