Doris Glynn Johnson Perry, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2020 at Alleghany Health in Sparta, NC.
Doris was born September 18, 1930 in Martin County, NC to Arthur Raymond and Lilla Belle Johnson. She graduated from Robersonville High School and retired from Wachovia Bank after a long career that she so enjoyed. She lived her life in Robersonville, NC until three years ago when she relocated to Sparta, NC to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She said other than being sick her last three years were her very best. Small in stature but large on inner strength, she will be remembered for her kind manner, love of her family and friends and her lemon squares and chocolate pies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband James Elbert Perry and her brothers, Alton, Billy, BL, Ellis and Shep.
She is survived by her brother Joe Johnson and wife Lane of Rocky Mount, NC; sister-in-law Betsy Johnson of Robersonville, NC; her soul sister, Lessie Johnson of Stokes, NC; two daughters: Kim Brown and husband Ricky, and Lynn Perry all of Sparta NC; a son, Jim Perry and wife Sarah of Wallace NC. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sara Davis and husband Mike of Sparta, Grayson Posey and husband Matt of Columbia, SC, Tripp Perry of Wallace, NC and Grace Perry of Sparta, NC; the four sparkles in her eye, her great grandchildren, Eason, Maeleigh, Keel and Bennett.
The family will be forever grateful to the medical staff of Alleghany Health and Dr. Jose Arocha and his staff.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made in Mama’s honor to the Alleghany Health Foundation specifying the Employee Appreciation Fund, 233 Doctors Street Sparta, NC 28675.
